Illarramania breaks in Anoeta
Asier Illarramendi is back home with his family. The return of the Mutriku-born player is now a reality and this evening he was presented in front of almost 2.000 spectators who came down to Anoeta to show their unconditional support to him. As soon as Asier appeared coming down the player’s tunnel there was huge roar from the stands.
It had been an early start to the day for Asier. After passing his medical at the Policlínica Gipuzkoa, the guipuzcoano signed his new contract at the Anoeta offices. Later, he was taken to Zubieta accompanied by president Jokin Aperribay and vice-president Ángel Oyarzun, who showed him the facilities improvements which have been made to his home during his time away. Also introduce him to David Moyes and the rest of the coaching staff. Illarra couldn’t hide his happiness at coming home to his childhood club.
After seeing the modifications to the training complex in Zubieta and chatting to the coach, Illarramendi had lunch inside the club facilities and exercised out on the José Luis Orbegozo pitch with the coach. These were the moments leading up to his return to Anoeta, where realista would welcome him massively.
Illarra took on the pitch wearing the number 4 shirt. He waved to all of those present and was delighted with the warm welcome from supporters, telling them he was "very happy to be back home. I joined La Real when I was 11 years old. I’m delighted to be back and I will give my very best for this club". He appeared visibly heart-touched by the video which the club had prepared, charting his career. Moments later he threw gifts into the stands and then posed for a family photograph, wearing his new Txuri-urdin shirt with friends and fans.
