An unforgettable season!! Asier Illarramendi's first experience in the Hong Kong League couldn't have ended better: with the Championship title and the individual awards of Hong Kong Footballer of the Year and a place in the Team of the Season. This was confirmed at the Hong Kong Footballer of the Year Awards gala, held on Sunday, May 31, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Since joining Kitchee last September, Illarramendi has made 16 league appearances and helped the team record 13 consecutive Premier League wins, sealing the title with four matches to spare.

In addition, Kitchee Head Coach Iñigo Calderón was named Coach of the Year, while Illarramendi, Yumemi Kanda, Tan Chun Lok, and Kam Chi Kin Jason were selected for the Best XI of the Year. Jason was also named Young Player of the Year.
