The brilliant display which the Txuri-urdin put in against FC Barcelona has not gone unnoticed in the world of football. The prestigious France Football magazine included Asier Illarramendi in their Team of the Week, selected from players in the four major European leagues (LaLiga, Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga).

"We put in a great game and any member of the team could have featured in this XI. We are very happy that our work is being recognized and let’s hope that in the future, we have more nominations like this one. That would be a good sign", Asier told Real Sociedad TV. 

The Mutriku-born midfielder features in line-up which also includes: Randolph (West Ham), Pareja (Sevilla), Hummels (Bayern Munich), Masiello (Atalanta), Keita (Leipzig), Huszti (Eintracht Frankfurt), Piatti (RCD Espanyol), Pedro (Chelsea), Llorente (Swansea) and Simeone (Genova).
