La Real ensured a spot in the next Champions League. Despite losing today 2-1 to Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano, the realistas will finish fourth in LaLiga since Villarreal lost to Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas. A well-deserved award for a team that has completed a brilliant season, with unforgettable moments for the txuri urdin family. Asier Illarramendi was the Skipper once again, leading the White-and-blues squad and collaborating  -as he did in the 12-13 campaign- in achieving qualification for the biggest European competition.

There were hardly any chances in the first half. Both teams tried to dominate, but without achieving it. Seven minutes before the break, Griezmann's shot gave the home side the lead. Several players crossed in front of Remiro and he was unable to intervene against the former txuri urdin player's shot.

In the second half, la Real were better and had chances to equalize, especially with a shot by Barrene that was saved by Grbic. However, it was Atletico who put the game to bed when Molina added a second. Sorloth added one in the 88th minute by taking advantage of a good pass from Brais. The txuri urdin tried to close the gap until the end but the match ended with a victory for Atlético.

It had been a long time since a defeat tasted so good. La Real is a Champions League team. The anthem of the stars will be heard in September at the Reale Arena. It is time to enjoy what has been achieved. The team deserves it. The fans too. Let's keep making history. Aurrera, Reala!
