Making history (1-0)

La Real picked up their eight consecutive win this season, which is the txuri urdin’s longest winning streak since 66-67. The realistas equaled that record after defeating Mallorca 1-0 thanks to a header by Merino. Three more points which consolidate their top position in the LaLiga table.

After the superb display by Asier Illarramendi in last weekend fixture away at Balaídos Stadium -with one goal included-, the Mutriku-born midfielder performed also against Mallorca in the final stage of the game.

The match got off to a good start. In a corner kick taken by Brais, Mikel Merino headed the first with strength and decision. Shortly after, Mallorca had a good chance to equalize, but Ángel's shot hit the crossbar. Despite not having too many chances, the realistas were the superior side. Sorloth tried his luck on two occasions whereas Brais shot was saved in extremis by Rajkovic.

In the second half, Imanol's men kept control of the ball and created enough chances to add a second, but the ball didn't go in. Guevara sent a right-footed shot against the post and, on the counter-attack, Amath scored. However, the goal was disallowed for a foul on Aritz after the VAR Review. La Real deserved to score the second whilst Aguirre's side stretched their lines and began to reach Remiro’s box with more danger. A long-range shot by Galarreta forced the txuri urdin keeper to make a great save.

Another victory, eight consecutive wins. Something historic. The team wants more! Next up for the txuri urdin is a LaLiga match in Valladolid, go Real!
