Illarra back to action in Kings Cup away win (0-3)
He is back on track!! Asier Illarramendi was on Inamol's starting line-up for the Kings Cup tie in Zamora, the place where Real Sociedad gained a spot on the tournament next round. The Mutriku-born midfielder was the skipper again of the Basque squad and played the full 45 minutes of the first half at Estadio Ruta de la Plata. The txuri urdin beat Zamora CF 0-3 with goals by Guridi, Turrientes and Oyarzabal in the second half.
It was a first poor half from both teams as none of them managed to create goal scoring chances. They didn’t get chances to shoot on the edge of the area. The start to the second half was key. The first chance fell to Sorloth but the effort went wide for a corner. The second half was barely underway when la Real went ahead through a fine Guridi goal.
From that moment on, the side from San Sebastián played calmly and started to create chances. Guridi tried his luck with a header whereas Djouahra fired in a shot that missed the target. Sorloth looked to catch Zamora out, but his cross-shot was gathered in by the keeper. Everything could have become a lot more complicated when Baselga hit the post after a corner kick. Then, Turrrientes scored his first goal for the first team. Finally, the captain made it 0-3 in the minute 93 after having been picked out by a pass from Portu.
